AUSTRALIAN FOOD

SNACK STOP - A plastic tub with something resembling noodles inside it. Almost like eating your own vomit. The best part of Snack Stop was watching Angus Sampson in the ads. My uni was so desperate to get rid of their free samples that they tried to give me a box of a dozen tubs. I took two tubs and a week off tutorials as a result.
English Alternative: Pot Noodle

VEGEMITE - Black yeast sandwich paste which most Australian children live off from two weeks old. It can be eaten on its own, on bread, toast, biscuits, pikelets, weetbix, crackers, as a dip or worn as a facial mask. Dick Smith's attempts to rival it with Aussiemite have failed in the face of a better jingle.

CHERRY RIPE - The greatest chocolate bar in the history of Australian chocolate. In fact, according to Wikipedia, it is Australia's oldest chocolate bar brand. A mixture of cherries and coconut is coated in "Old Gold Chocolate" (looks like ordinary chocolate but tastes superior) and sealed in a shiny red wrapper. There is nothing better than finding a whole glace cherry in your chocolate bar - except perhaps finding two. Cherry Ripe has often been expertly turned into Cherry Ripe Slice, and sold by bakeries all over the country with the exception of a very bad one in country NSW that made the base with aniseed flavouring.
