GUM TREES - Also known as Eucalyptus trees, these
iconic trees are a staple food of Koalas - or at least a few species of them are, bloody picky things Koalas are. The trees grow everywhere and drop leaves into gutters. Branches often fall off without warning and crush anyone camping under them. The oil in them is also highly flammable which burns well in bushfires - something the trees need to regenerate, but the rural community could do without. The trees are so flammable they have been know to spontaneously combust.
LANTANA - Very pretty plant with brightly coloured flowers. Actually an invasive weed that was introduced to the country and now grows everywhere it isn't supposed to. I vaguely remember my grandmother growing it in pots. Also made into an arty Australian movie which did well at the box office but not many people could follow the plot.
